The brain is a prediction machine. Every action begins with a simulation: What happens if I take on this task? How likely is success? How costly is failure? Why Setbacks Then Get Processed Differently

An interesting effect of an updated model: setbacks lose their absolute meaning. In the old model every failure was another data point in the proof "my system fails". In the updated model a failure is one data point among many, most of them successes. Statistically it becomes a course correction, not a confirmation of the old self-image.

This is not a psychological trick. It is a consequence of Bayesian updating. When the majority of data points show working actions, the system correctly weighs an outlier as an outlier. In the old model every data point was a proof, because the dataset was narrow and one-sided.

The size of a goal then no longer brakes execution in the same way. The prediction system computes probability from the available data - and when the data show that the system has handled complex tasks before, the prediction for the next complex task is calibrated accordingly. Subjectively that feels like "this seems doable". What actually happens is a statistical calculation in the background.
